Purrfect Partners

Purrfect Partners is a group of volunteers who are advocates for our shelter cats. For instance, we recently collaborated with staff to create the Kitty Klubhouse, the new cat group living quarters. But there are always smaller needs also, such as new toys, beds, cat trees, etc. We try to stay on top of things to make our cats as comfortable as possible while they are our guests!

Purrfect Partners meetings are usually monthly, on a Monday evening. If you're interested in joining our group you must first become a shelter volunteer.  Please sign up for the next volunteer orientation class through the City's website, or click on the volunteer tab.

Staff and volunteers work hard to keep our cats socialized and comfy around humans so that they'll be friendly when they spot their perfect new parent. You can either work with an individual cat in one of our get-acquainted rooms, or go into "the suite" and see which cat chooses you for a snuggle! You can also spend time with our recuperating Clinic cats and kittens, or help with production of our two animal adoption television shows.

Have enough room in your home to have a cat or two bunk with you temporarily? Foster homes are always needed: for infant kittens who need bottle-feeding; for older weaned kittens who just need to be socialized and grow large enough for spaying/neutering then adoption; and for cats and kittens of any age who may just need a break from the shelter--sometimes recovering from surgery of an illness, where a home environment is better than a shelter cage.

Other skills we need: Want to help update our website cats? Help the staff clean kennels and cages? Put the cats to bed at night? If you like to fold towels, have we got a job for you! Our laundry is never-ending!
